Last year, we saw the biggest wedding boom since 1984 and this boost is prejected to last throughout 2023 with an estimated 2.2 million weddings. This increase, combined with the fact that couples are hosting multiple celebrations, creates an increased opportunity for wedding and bridal shower florals and décor. Spending per wedding is expected to reach $25K and while average wedding spending is up, couples are saving money by inviting fewer guests and then splurging on items like rare flowers and floral installations.
Budget-Friendly Chic
Though wedding spending is projected to increase, brides are tightening their budgets due to inflation and increasing costs. Cost saving ideas and inspiration for florals and decor can give consumers their dream celebration at a lower price. Couples can opt for DIY florals, greenery, and candles, and creatively upcycled floral containers such as paint cans or painted tire planters to create dramatic effects.
Celebratory Bar
As we see an uptick in weddings and pent-up desire for celebrating, the bar will remain a focal area at receptions creating a celebratory vibe that we’ve been missing. As a key gathering place, consumers should make sure the bar is adorned with decorative floral arrangements and personalized details.
Earthy Eco-Friendly
Sustainability is becoming a bigger part of the conversation around weddings, with 22% of couples saying that it was a consideration in their wedding planning. This will undoubtedly continue throughout 2023 and beyond as couples explore creative ways to celebrate responsibly. When it comes to wedding flowers, couples are opting for local and seasonal flowers. The use of dried florals in place of live blooms are also environmentally responsible.
Ultra Romantic
After postponements and difficult times, couples will celebrate love and romance. Soft colors and textures with warm pinks and neutrals and over-the-top details will create rich looks. Cottagecore influences will reflect a vintage charm while metallic accents will feel lush and decadent. Disco balls will be a key décor item, incorporated with florals. Arrangements will feature a mix of fresh and dried florals and will have a relaxed, watercolor quality.
Rustic Rust
A palette of vibrant earthy tones including crisp warm rust, and pops of orange, stir our senses while simultaneously taking inspiration from the outdoors in autumn. It pairs well with neutral tones or vibrant accents giving it a modern and vintage feel at the same time. A mix of different textures and materials adds visual interest and dimension.
Focal Florals
Those who downsized their event’s attendance numbers have increased budgets elsewhere and are splurging on larger, photo-ready arrangements and installations. Florals and greenery are even more supersized, becoming fully immersive installation pieces throughout venues. Wild blooms, natural hues, and sprawling shapes will create a lush and memorable floral statement.
